Dr. Herrington joined the University of Vermont faculty in 2006 after earning his medical degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and completing residency at Oregon Health Sciences University. He currently serves as the chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine for both UVM Larner College of Medicine and UVM Health.
At Larner, he led development of the emergency medicine residency and helped establish the division as an academic department. Herrington has served on governance, finance, quality and curriculum committees, advancing care delivery and clinical integration across the health system. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and active in several national professional organizations. He has mentored students, residents and faculty, earning recognition for teaching and service.
