Dr. DeStigter is the John P. and Kathryn H. Tampas Green and Gold Professor and Chair of Radiology at UVM Larner College of Medicine and Chair of the Radiology Department for University of Vermont Health. She is a board-certified radiologist who joined the organization in 2001. She has held multiple leadership roles across the system, nationally and internationally.
Dr. DeStigter is recognized for her expertise in the implementation of low-cost imaging and other diagnostic solutions in low-resourced countries. Her scholarship focuses on sustainable diagnostic solutions for rural areas, with invited speaking engagements worldwide. In 2016 she received the American College of Radiology Foundation Global Humanitarian Award for her work improving medical imaging and access to care.
Throughout her career, she has been a leader in radiology education and was awarded the RSNA Outstanding Educator of the Year award in 2016. She is a distinguished radiologist and is Fellow of both the American College of Radiology and the Association of Academic Radiologists, which are among the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a radiologist.
