Join us for a compelling talk with Sarah Jaquette Ray, PhD, an author, educator and national voice on the emotional dimensions of climate and environmental justice. Dr. Ray explores how feelings such as anxiety, despair and hope influence climate activism — particularly among young people — and offers tools to help individuals and communities navigate these challenging emotions.
Dr. Ray is the host of the podcast Climate Magic and author of the widely read book A Field Guide to Climate Anxiety: How to Keep Your Cool on a Warming Planet (2020). She also led an international network of educators to create The Existential Toolkit for Climate Justice Educators (2024), a resource that blends environmental humanities, social justice and psychology.
Her work has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, Scientific American and on podcasts including Hidden Brain and The Atlantic’s “How to Age Up.” Through her interdisciplinary approach, Dr. Ray offers insights and strategies for inner resilience, meaningful engagement and collective action in the face of a changing climate.
