Join author Edith Forbes for a reading from her latest release, The Lawnmower Lady. Following the reading, stay for a lively discussion exploring themes from the book, including New England culture, green burial, death, religion, politics and more.
The novel centers on Fay Kirkwood — an irascible descendant of an old New England family who chose a solitary life on a North Country farm, raising pigs and repairing lawnmowers. When Fay unexpectedly dies at age 78, she is dismayed to find herself still present, watching as her niece fulfills what Fay had intended as a joke: to leave her body in the woods to nourish wildlife.
