Welcome to the UVM Medical Center and the Larner College of Medicine at UVM medical residency and fellowship programs. We offer over 42 residency and fellowship programs in a university based, academically focused setting that provides well-rounded medical training experience in a setting that offers a quality of life that is second to none.
Our 17 residency and 25 fellowship programs take place on our Burlington campus, where more than 320 residents and fellows engage in fulfilling our clinical, research, teaching, and community service missions.

Founded in 1822, The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine is the seventh oldest medical school in the nation. In 2016, a gift from Class of 1942 graduate Dr. Robert Larner and his wife, Helen, strengthened the College's efforts to provide a medical education that is second to none. Initiatives included digitizing the curriculum, creating innovative classrooms to facilitate active learning, building an enhanced simulation center to help students learn clinical skills, and the recruitment of an endowed Professor of Medical Education to lead the Teaching Academy.

I attended medical school at UVM and hadn't considered a career in Neurology until the first day of my third-year clerkship. The Residents and Attendings I worked with here as a medical student made me feel like an integral part of their team and nurtured my budding interest in the specialty. Throughout that experience, I sensed a culture of supportiveness that ultimately compelled me to remain here for residency. This is a program that is deeply invested in its residents' well-being and future potential. It's a place where I truly feel "seen" and appreciated.
Choosing UVM EM for residency training was the best decision I've ever made. The robust training opportunities and vast pathology make training at UVMMC exceptional, but the real reason I chose UVM EM was because of the people and culture. There's an overwhelming sense of community, mentorship, contagious enthusiasm, and camaraderie that I am confident has shaped me into becoming a better person and physician.
I chose the UVM GI fellowship because of the excellent endoscopy training, the ability to tailor your GI training in the 3rd year, and the collegial and tight-knit culture of the UVM GI division. This is a great fellowship, and I would make the same choice again and again.
Doing my residency at UVMMC has truly been an amazing experience. I have learned so much from my co-residents, the faculty and support staff, and the diverse patient population. The teamwork and collaborative environment here is unparalleled, and cultivates a space for high-quality patient care.
