Message from the Director
Welcome to the University of Vermont ACGME accredited Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship. Our dedicated faculty provides fellows with tailored, individualized training in clinical neuromuscular medicine. We are proud to train outstanding academic and private practice neuromuscular medicine experts. Our alumni go on to successful careers in both private practice and academic neurology, many serve in leadership positions.
Our program is located in the picturesque and vibrant northern New England Burlington, Vermont community. The University of Vermont Medical Center and the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont serve as Vermont's only academic medical center. We provide tertiary care to patients from Vermont and northern NY. Our location provides fellows the opportunity to work with a diverse group of adult and pediatric patients with both rare and common neuromuscular disorders. Outside of training, our fellows enjoy an excellent quality of life. Burlington is located on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Adirondack and Green Mountains. With year-round recreational activities, great restaurants, and excellent schools, this progressive community has been frequently cited as one of the most livable cities in the U.S. We are also only a short drive away from big city life in Montreal.
Our fellowship provides advanced training in the clinical evaluation and management of adult and pediatric patients with disorders of the peripheral nerves, muscles, neuromuscular junction, and motor neurons. Our fellows also receive training in EMG/Nerve Conduction Studies, Single Fiber EMG, Nerve/Muscle Ultrasound, Autonomic Testing, Muscle/Nerve Biopsy interpretation, and Skin Biopsy performance and interpretation. We are proud to be able to offer ample opportunity to be involved in clinical and translational research working with committed, interested faculty in an area of interest to the fellow. Our program provides a unique blend of expertise and experiences in patient care, research and teaching in a supportive, collegial setting
Graduates of the neuromuscular medicine fellowship are eligible for board certification for both ABPN: Neuromuscular Medicine, ABPMR: Neuromuscular Medicine, and ABEM: Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
