Musculoskeletal Radiology

The University of Vermont Medical Center Department of Radiology offers a one-year Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology in Burlington, VT.  The UVM Medical Center participates in the Musculoskeletal Radiology (MSK) Fellowship Match with the Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR) (see dates of the Match).

The UVM Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center and the only tertiary referral center for the catchment area of Vermont and Northern Upstate New York. 

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology of The UVM Medical Center, the primary teaching hospital for the Larner College Of Medicine at UVM, offers a one-year non ACGME accredited Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology. Candidates must be board-certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology. At the time Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited residency in Diagnostic Radiology and be board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology by the ABR (American Board of Radiology).

The Division of Musculoskeletal Imaging is currently composed of 4.0 FTE fellowship trained diagnostic musculoskeletal radiologists. Training includes all aspects of Musculoskeletal Radiology and all imaging modalities.

Facilities are state-of-the-art with 6 MRI units, Philips 3T and 1.5T.

CT facilities includes 2 Philips ICT 256 scanners located in the Emergency Department as well as two 128-slice scanners, and two 64-slice scanners. This is in addition to the two Philips 16-slice scanners for the Vereos  PET/CT and a GE Discovery SPECT CT. There are 7 state-of-the-art ultrasound systems.

MSK radiologists work closely with subspecialists at our off-site Orthopedic Subspecialty Center, where multimodality-imaging services are offered, including MRI 3T and 1.5T.

There is abundant clinical material, as well as ample case material and opportunity for clinical research. A 3.0 T dedicated research magnet operated by the University of Vermont MRI Center for Biomedical Imaging is housed in the Radiology Department at the main campus and staffed full time by experienced research technologists as well as two MRI physicists.

Vermont is a beautiful, safe, and active place to live. Burlington, Vermont, has continually been voted one of the nicest cities in which to live as well as one of America's most “fit” cities due to the four seasons of outdoor activities. Burlington is located on Lake Champlain, 45minutes from world-class skiing, 1.5 hours by car from Montreal, and has an international airport with direct flights to many major cities.
