The Dermatopathology Fellowship program at the University of Vermont is designed to provide comprehensive training in dermatopathology to graduates from either general pathology or dermatology

Message from the Director

The Dermatopathology Fellowship program at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and UVM Health was started in 2005. The year-long program is designed to provide comprehensive training in dermatopathology to graduates from either general pathology or dermatology.

The major objective of the fellowship program is to provide the fellow with the training necessary to become a competent dermatopathologist that is prepared for a career in either academic or clinical practice.

The fellowship program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Pathology and Department of Dermatology. For the fellow with previous pathology training, active participation in dermatology clinics, rounds, and clinical conferences is expected in addition to the study of morphology and mechanisms of skin disease.

A fellow with a dermatology background receives training in general pathology in the areas of surgical pathology, cytopathology, autopsy, and hematopathology which is integrated throughout the year. The fellow is also involved in the training of dermatology and pathology residents as well as medical students. There is a wide range of research opportunities available including clinicopathologic studies, immunohistochemical analyses, and molecular biologic investigations.

Thank you for your interest in the Dermatopathology Fellowship program at University of Vermont College of Medicine and UVM Health.
