Teaching

Fellows are encouraged and given opportunities to teach other students and professionals. Our program is proud to be part of the Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation which provides funds and opportunities for medical students interested in child psychiatry to learn more about the field through local mentorship, activities with child faculty, and an annual conference held around the country each year. Fellows with particular interests in teaching may also receive more specific instruction by becoming members of the medical school's Teaching Academy.

Other recent teaching activities by fellows include the following:

  • Seeing patients with University of Vermont medical students
  • Participating at a local high school in a community suicide prevention program after a student suicide
  • Giving a regular seminar to medical students on Mental Health Stigma
  • Co-leading a small group breakout session on mindfulness at the VCCYF's annual conference Child Psychiatry for Primary Care
  • Presenting a talk on Trauma-Based CBT to PGY3 psychiatry residents doing their child rotation
  • Presenting a lecture on the Neuroscience of Addiction to staff of a local community mental health center
  • Giving practical education sessions on child psychiatry via videoconference networked to multiple primary care centers across Vermont
