Application and Match Process
The selection process for prospective fellows in Hematopathology is switching to the NRMP Pathology Fellowship Match for positions that begin on and after July 1, 2026. Applications must be submitted directly to the program and not through ERAS. Please see our Application Requirements and How to Apply below.
2026 Match Schedule
- July 1, 2024-January 1, 2025: Applications accepted.
- January 8, 2025: Interviews will begin
- February 5, 2025: NRMP Match opens for registration to programs and applicants
- March 12, 2025: NRMP ranking opens
- April 16, 2025: NRMP rank order list certification deadline
- April 30, 2025: NRMP Match Day (noon ET).
- July 1, 2026: Start of Fellowship (July 1, 2026-June 30, 2027
Interview Invitations will be sent to applicants via email from Thalamus (interview scheduling platform).
Application Requirements and How to Apply:
Fellowship applications and required materials listed below can be submitted via email to the Fellowship Director, Katherine Devitt, M.D. at Katherine [dot] devittuvmhealth [dot] org (Katherine[dot]devitt[at]uvmhealth[dot]org).
Materials required from all applicants are:
- Application
- Curriculum Vitae
- Personal Statement
- A minimum of three (3) recent letters of reference from direct supervisors, including the Pathology residency director.
- Letters of reference should be submitted electronically to the fellowship director from the letter writer, or their designated assistant. Letters should not come from the applicant.
- Successful completion of both Steps 1, 2 (CK and CS) and 3 of either the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX)
International applicants must:
- Have a J-1 Visa or have a U.S. citizen Permanent Resident status. No other Visas will be accepted. (H1B are not acceptable.)
- Have a current certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
