- The resident will work with the residency program research coordinator and other members of the pharmacy department and hospital as required and learn the fundamentals of research design and methodology.
- The resident is expected to present the project at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Eastern States Residency Conference.
- Pharmacy practice (clinical staffing coverage)
- Residents will provide clinical staffing coverage every third weekend, including the Friday prior to the weekend worked. Residents will rotate through the Medical/Surgical and Cardiology satellites, as well as the central pharmacy.

Required Deliverables
- Residents are required to successfully complete the following throughout the residency year to obtain the Residency Certificate:
- Receive an "Achieved for Residency" rating for 70% of required ASHP objectives
- Departmental Competencies (completed during Introduction to Pharmacy Practice)
- Major Project: Residency Research Project
- Minor Project: Medication Use Evaluation
- Medication monograph review for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee
- Certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS)
- Pharmacy Grand Rounds Presentation (1 hour accredited continuing education)
- Pharmacy Pearls Presentation (required after ASHP midyear attendance)
- Teaching and Learning Certificate
- Three written drug information responses and one nursing in-service
- Three journal club presentations
- Three case conference presentations
- A minimum of 12 total staffing weekends
