Burlington is a special city and Vermont a remarkable state. The natural beauty, variety of outdoor activities, quality of local foods, arts, and civic safety and cleanliness define a life outside of the hospital as restorative as it is enriching. Burlington owns a front-row seat to all four seasons as they impact a broad glacial lake with a backdrop of forested mountains in vivid fashion. The blazing colors of the fall leaves complement apple picking and cider doughnuts perfectly before giving way to a snowy New England winter. As the mountains open up for another ski season, winter is met by a tangible sense of excitement and anticipation amongst the entire community. Burlington's proximity to numerous renowned mountains (Stowe, Bolton, Killington, Smuggler's Notch, etc.) make the Queen City a resort town in its own right. The spring and summer see temperatures in the 70's for months on end, and during this time, hiking, biking, boating, paddle boarding, kite surfing and barbecues on the beach dominate the days off. Suffice to say the local cheese and craft beer in Vermont are regarded by many critics as the best in the world and an important part of the culture. Burlington is a small place offering up a profound quality of life.
