Our Vision - Pediatric Residency

"The vision of the pediatric residency program at Golisano Children's Hospital at University of Vermont Health in partnership with the University of Vermont College of Medicine is to foster in our residents the highest levels of humanism in medicine, advocacy for children through community, regional, national, and global outreach, commitment to high quality patient and family-centered care and the ongoing pursuit of research and scholarly activities. Core to our philosophy is an emphasis on foundational training, building our residents as teachers and producing competent and autonomous pediatricians who are critical thinkers and practice evidence-based medicine. The close one-on-one relationships and mentoring that is central to our program fosters deep experiential learning, professional development, and a well-rounded education and training that promotes the skills to excel as a pediatrician in any future career – from primary care for a rural or underserved population to the most specialized care in an academic institution." — UVM Pediatrics.

Pediatric Residency Program Leadership

Jill Rinehart, MD FAAP

Pediatric Residency Program Director

Dr. Rinehart graduated from this residency program and spent twenty years in private pediatric practice in Burlington as a full time community pediatrician, before "coming home" to the Vermont Children's hospital as the residency program director in 2019. After growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota, she attended Dartmouth College and then completed medical school at the University of Minnesota. Her formative years were spent as the big sister to two younger siblings with complex medical needs. This personal experience helped fuel a passion for family centered care and inspired her national expertise in medical home, care coordination and working with families to improve population health and medical training. She recently completed her tenure as the American Academy of Pediatrics Vermont chapter president. Over the years she's had the great fortune of having several remarkable physician mentors, most of them established as a result of this residency program. One of the best parts about our program is that you never really leave" you become a part of our family and your success, is our success.

Gregory LaMoy

Pediatric Residency GME Program Administrator

A lifelong Vermonter, Gregory LaMoy grew up in a small town in northern Vermont and earned his BA from Castleton State College. Greg is the Pediatric Residency Program Administrator, where he supports the Pediatric Residency Program within the Office of Graduate Medical Education. Greg joined the GME team in April 2024, bringing with him a decade of experience at the UVM Medical Center, previously working in the Health Assistance Program and Employee Wellness. Before that, he spent time in the non-profit sector, always driven by a passion for helping others thrive. He is proud to support the next generation of pediatric residents as they train to care for children and families across the region. Outside of work, Greg is an automotive enthusiast and enjoys being outdoors year-round - whether it's attending a local "cars and coffee" car show, hiking, camping, brook trout fishing, or exploring Vermont in all of its beautiful seasons. He lives in Vermont with his partner, Tracy, and their son, Jack.

Christina Imming, MD

Pediatric Residency Associate Program Director

Dr. Imming grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio, prior to going to Miami University in Ohio for Undergrad. She subsequently went to the University of Cincinnati for medical school, and then matched into med-peds residency at the University of Pittsburgh/Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. She spent the following four years after residency graduation at Pittsburgh Childrens' as a pediatric hospitalist, combined with working in a clinic for Children with Medical Complexity- a population of kids that compelled her initial desire to be in medicine. However, after spending childhood summers and many winter trips here in Vermont, she was thrilled to have the opportunity to join the UVM Children's Hospital Faculty as a pediatric hospitalist in 2021. Working in a small program such as this creates a close bond with the residents, and she is very excited to now be a part of the residency program leadership. She believes the strength of the program lies in the close relationship between faculty, trainees and all members of the department- and looks forward to her new role of supporting the next wave of young physicians both personally and professionally as they pursue their goals.

Sarah Couser, MD

Pediatric Residency Associate Program Director

Dr. Couser is a pediatric nephrologistoriginally from Wisconsin. She completed her undergraduate studies at Macalester College before attending medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine through the Maine Track program. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Vermont and went on to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for fellowship in pediatric nephrology, where she also earned a Master's in Medical Education. Dr. Couser returned to UVM as a faculty member, excited to work alongside the mentors and colleagues who helped shape her training. She believes that education is about more than imparting knowledge, but also about creating a supportive environment where learners feel seen, challenged, and empowered to grow. She is particularly passionate about developing curricula focused on physician resilience, recognizing that pediatrics is a field filled with moments of both joy and emotional weight. Her goal is to help shape a training environment where residents feel supported, valued, and equipped to thrive" both as physicians and as people.

Coral Walker, MD

Pediatric Residency Chief Resident

Coral Walker, MD grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and realized both an interest in medicine and a passion for pediatrics at an early age. He credits his own experiences as a pediatric patient and the joy he had working with kids through his involvement in musical theatre as a launching pad for a career in pediatric medicine. He studied Microbiology and Applied Behavioral Science at the University of Kansas prior to earning his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Coral then moved to the Green Mountain state for residency at the Golisano Children's Hospital at UVM Health, where he fell in love with all that Vermont has to offer (especially the wonderful people, views, and creemees). He is excited to serve the residency program as the Chief Resident for AY 2026-2027 and hopes to stay in Vermont as a Primary Care pediatrician afterwards. When he’s not in the hospital or clinic, you can find him at one of the local coffee shops, enjoying walks on the waterfront, or watching new movies and shows with his partner.”
