Community Helps Raise $75,000 for End-of-Life Care at the McClure Miller Respite House

The 2022 Jiggety Jog & Fun Run annual fundraiser incorporated virtual and in-person events this year to benefit the UVM Health Network – Home Health & Hospice’s McClure Miller Respite House.

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The 2022 Jiggety Jog & Fun Run annual fundraiser incorporated virtual and in-person events this year to benefit the University of Vermont Health Network – Home Health & Hospice’s McClure Miller Respite House. The McClure Miller Respite House is Vermont’s only Medicare-certified inpatient hospice residence.

This year, Vermont Lieutenant Governor Molly Gray opened the event, sharing the special experience hospice care offered her family during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Representative Lori Houghton helped close the event by sharing a personal story, celebrating this year’s fundraising frontrunner, Alice Christian; Rep. Houghton also announced that the fundraiser had exceeded its fundraising goal.

“The McClure Miller Respite House offers exceptional end-of-life care and the Jiggety Jog annual fundraiser is crucial to our ability to offer compassionate care for patients and their families regardless of ability to pay,” said Adrianne Johnson Ross, president and chief operating officer for UVM Health Network - Home Health & Hospice.

“We are grateful and honored by the support we received from our participants, friends, community members and sponsors who raised $75,000 for the McClure Miller Respite House in just over 10 days,” said Maya Fehrs, director of development. “The Jiggety Jog & Fun Run is the single largest fundraiser for the residence.”

In addition to the event’s premier sponsor, North Country Credit Union, additional sponsors included REM Development, Vermont Mutual Insurance, Claussen’s, People's United, SymQuest, 98.9 WOKO, KOOL 105.1, WJOY, Hanson & Doremus, DRM, Bytes.co, New England Federal Credit Union, Capital Candy Co., Inc., The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Lions International, Snyder Homes, Guided Wealth Advisors, and A.C. For the past 31 years, community support for the McClure Miller Respite House has allowed compassionate end-of-life care to be offered for Vermonters regardless of any person’s ability to pay.
