The Preventive Cardiology Program includes procedures and treatments related to the primary and secondary prevention of coronary heart disease.

Primary prevention is designed to identify subjects at high risk for the development of cardiac disease before symptoms become apparent. Treatment focuses on changes in diet and lifestyle in combination with medications to reduce the subsequent incidence of clinical heart disease.

Patients who have experienced a cardiovascular events are at increased risk of subsequent events. Accordingly, intense efforts to modify cardiac risk are mandated. Management of diet and lifestyle in combination with medications are essential.
