This page features a list of Cancer Support groups offered by the UVM Cancer Center, as well as a listing of online and phone support groups offered by reputable national organizations. 

UVM Medical Center Support Groups

The following UVMMC support groups are free to attend unless otherwise noted. Dates and times are subject to change; please call the contact person listed for up-to-date information.

CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP

For children ages 6-12 who have a parent or adult caregiver currently being treated for cancer. Coping skills are developed through a variety of fun, creative, and active activities.

Oncology Patient and Family Support—Online and by Phone

The Frymoyer Community Health Resource Center at the University of Vermont Medical Center offers a listing of reputable online and phone support groups, networks, and communities including one-on-one peer support for oncology patients and their families.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY— CANCER SURVIVORS NETWORK

Join our online community by and for people with cancer and their families. Find and connect with others through our member search, discussion boards, chat rooms, and private CSN e-mail. Create your own personal space to tell us about yourself, share photos, audio, etc, start an online journal (blog), contribute resources, and more.

VERMONT CANCER SUPPORT NETWORK — KINDRED CONNECTIONS PEER SUPPORT

Peer support for all those touched by cancer. Kindred Connections volunteers provide support and encouragement to cancer survivors. Survivors who have gone through similar experiences can offer a special kind of support. We can provide one-to-one assistance in person, by phone, or e-mail.

BREAST CANCER — NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION, INC

NBCF hosts a monthly online support group where our support group facilitator works with cancer survivors during “caring and sharing” time to encourage healthy dialogue and education for everyone involved.
