Application Requirements

We will be accepting applications for AY 2025-2026.

All fellowship applicants should either currently be part of or have recently completed an ACGME-accredited Pathology residency program. Fellowship Applications can be submitted by emailing documents to the Program Coordinator.

Our program participates in the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) unified recruitment timeline for cytopathology fellowship programs.

  • Applications will start being reviewed: July (suggested submission window:  July-September)
  • Interviews will start being offered: mid-August (suggested interview contact window: August 15-November)
  • Earliest date to extend an offer to an applicant: first week of October (applicants will have 72 hours to accept/decline)

Materials required from all applicants are:

  • College of American Pathologists standardized application
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Personal Statement
  • MSPE (aka Dean’s letter)
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • Two (2) recent letters of reference from direct supervisors
  • One (1) recent letter of reference from residency or fellowship program director
  • Successful completion of both Steps 1, 2 and 3 of either the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX)

International applicants must:

  • Have a J-1 Visa or have a U.S. citizen Permanent Resident status. No other Visas will be accepted (H1B are not acceptable).
  • Currently be part of or have recently completed an ACGME-accredited Pathology residency program
  • Have a current certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
  • Successfully completed the Clinical Skills requirement
  • Have worked in clinical medicine in the United States within the last two years
    • NOTE: an observership does not fulfill this requirement
