Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Program
The Clinical Neurophysiology Training Program at UVM Medical Center/University of Vermont is a one-year postgraduate fellowship designed to provide detailed knowledge of clinical neurophysiology including:
- Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system
- Technical principles for the performance and analysis of electrophysiologic signal
- The interpretation of normal and abnormal neurophysiologic studies
The traineeship is clinically oriented, though fellows are expected to initiate a research project during their tenure.
Training will be expected to meet the requirements for examination by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN)'s Added Qualifications for Clinical Neurophysiology and the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. An optional additional 12 months of training may be pursued at the mutual discretion of the fellow and the Director of Clinical Neurophysiology.
The program is under the direction of Dr. Argirios Moustakas. The attending staff consists of faculty who have subspecialty training and expertise in clinical neurophysiology working within a robust academic Department of Neurology, including EEG, EMG, Botox and Sleep Medicine providers.
Applicants must be graduates of an accredited training program in neurology in the U.S. or Canada and must be licensed or eligible for licensure by Vermont and New York State. The Division of Clinical Neurophysiology makes every effort to attract qualified women and minorities. The program prefers to receive applications by August 15 so that candidates can be reviewed, interviewed and a decision arrived at by October 1 of the year prior to initiation of the fellowship. Applications up to October 1 will be considered on a case by case basis. Active Neurology forms an important part of the training in this fellowship.
