Application Requirements

The Child and Adolescent Training Program at the Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families (VCCYF) seeks to recruit and train compassionate, personable, and scientifically minded individuals who are motivated to achieve excellence in their professional endeavors as leaders in child psychiatry practice, research, and teaching.

We look for high levels of professional and ethical standards, academic performance, analytical abilities, clinical and communication skills, personal maturity, and a commitment to life-long learning. We eschew dogmatism, arrogance, and complacency. Previous experience and skills in research and research methods including previous publications and scientific presentations is desired but not required for otherwise excellent applicants.

How to Apply for PGY1 Positions in the Integrated Adult/Child Program

Two residents each year who are admitted into the University of Vermont General Psychiatry Residency are in the Integrated Adult/Child Program which entails automatic acceptance into the Child and Adolescent Fellowship as a PGY4, as long as the resident remains in good standing. Interested students should review the requirements for admission for the UVM General Psychiatry Residency which accepts applications only from ERAS.

As mentioned, within the Integrated Program exist the possibility of applying for the research track for those applicants with strong research skills, experience, and aspirations. When applying, please specify your interest in applying for the General Psychiatry Program, Integrated Adult/Child Program or both. Please also specify if you want to be considered for the research track that is an option within both training programs.

How to Apply for PGY4-5 Child Fellowship Positions

We currently are recruiting for two excellent residents to join our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program in July 2020 as a PGY4 or PGY5. Applications for these positions are now processed through the Electronic Application Service (ERAS).

Applicant eligibility requirements can be found at our website. Among other qualifications, applicants to this program need to have passed USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX Part 3 and be eligible for a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in Vermont. International applicants must have a J-1 Visa or have a U.S. citizen Permanent Resident status.
