If you are concerned that your child may have a weight problem, you have access to a team of experts at The University of Vermont Children's Hospital in Burlington, VT.

Weight Management: What You Need to Know

Here, we've designed a specialized program that provides comprehensive evaluations, diagnoses and treatment for overweight children and adolescents.

The Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management Clinic offers patients and their families a team approach focused not only on helping your child loose weight, but also on developing a lifelong healthy eating plan.

Our team consists of:

  • a physician or nurse practitioner
  • a psychologist
  • a dietician

Specific services offered by the Childhood & Adolescent Weight Management Clinic, include:

  • Nutritional counseling
  • Information on lifestyle issues related to healthy eating
  • Advice on how to eat healthy foods on a budget
  • Advice on how to keep kids active

Under the supervision of the physician, the team also provides in-depth medical assessments, and identifies the medical causes and consequences of childhood weight issues, such as diabetes and heart diseases.

The team works closely with families to help develop a healthy eating plan, and meets regularly with the family and child to monitor progress and any other medical conditions that may arise.
