Warm coats to protect against the blustery North Country winter, full bellies to help build a strong, healthy body and special toys to bring happy holiday smiles to tiny faces are the driving forces behind the recent generosity of the University of Vermont Health Network – Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) employees.

CVPH employees and physicians are supporting a number of local charities in addition to the United Way of the Adirondack Region and according to CVPH President Michelle LeBeau, “extending their impact on the communities we serve.”

“We see every day the very real need for strong partnerships between our organization and the community agencies that support our patients’ health and well-being,” said LeBeau.

The local hospital is partnering with Taylor Rental and Industrial Supplies to support the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity (JCEO) Backpack Program which provides essential weekend meals to children in our community who live with chronic food insecurity. Chances to win a snowblower, donated by Taylor Rental, can be purchased at Champlain Centre, Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 am to 2 pm. The $10 tickets are also available anytime at the JCEO Main Office, Taylor Rentals and Taylor Equipment, 1up Arcade and Pub, Busters Sports Bar, Warren Tire, Studio 136 Hair Salon, Adirondack Dog Klips, Maggy Pharmacy and the Cornerstone Bookstore. The winner will be announced Monday, Dec. 23.

Employees are also donating gently used winter wear to be distributed by JCEO to those in need. A collection bin is located in the FitzPatrick Cancer Center entryway until January 3. Earlier this month, flatbeds of new toys and other holiday items were donated by the Christmas Bureau and Clinton County Social Services. These opportunities are coordinated by the CVPH Volunteer Department.
