Plants slowly growing during a rain storm

Gardening for Health (Virtual)

MONDAY, DECEMBER 14, 2020

In this program, piloted in August and September 2020 and funded by the UVM Medical Center Foundation, we aimed to engage patients with metabolic syndrome – including patients who have diabetes, pre-diabetes or high blood pressure, or who are overweight – in habits that improve health. Our primary focus was teaching participants how to grow delicious fresh vegetables with introductory gardening education.

In this presentation, we’ll give an overview of program content, share findings from data collected and review some anticipated changes for our next program, scheduled for June and July 2021. Whether you’re interested in participating in the next Gardening for Health Program or you think it might be a good fit for patients you work with, we encourage you to join us to learn how gardening can improve patient and community health.

This event is virtual and will be hosted using Microsoft Teams Live. A link to the meeting and set-up instructions will be provided upon your registration.
