UVM Medical Center Update on COVID-19 Vaccination

UVM Medical Center continues vaccinating employees and community health care workers following State, CDC guidance

BURLINGTON – The UVM Medical Center continues vaccinating our employees and community health care workers following guidance from the State of Vermont and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. We began by prioritizing departments and positions with the highest risk of exposure to COVID-19, followed by employees who interact directly with patients in their work, and then employees who regularly work in patient care locations, consistent with state guidance. We are not distributing the vaccine to employees who are fully remote or who work in buildings that patients do not enter, and will continue to work with the state to determine the timing for those groups. Through December 30, we had vaccinated 3,096 employees and 1,169 community health care workers.

While the vaccines are a big step forward in our ongoing pandemic response, and a critical new tool to protect our health care workers, patients and communities, our employees will continue to do the things that have been proven to slow the spread of COVID-19, including continuing to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
