Nursing Areas of Focus

As an academic medical center and our region's only Level I trauma center, the University of Vermont Medical Center offers nursing careers across a wide spectrum of disciplines.

Ambulatory Nursing

Ambulatory nurses at the University of Vermont Medical Center are located within our 11 primary care locations and more than 60 specialty clinics located across Northern and Central Vermont. They partner closely with physicians and advanced practice providers to provide a range of services to our patients to help keep them healthy and to assist in the management of chronic and acute conditions.

Both RNs and LPNs are employed in ambulatory settings. An ambulatory nursing career offers a great work-life balance with most nurses enjoying nights and weekends off.

Our ‘hospital within a hospital,' the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, creates opportunities to work with children not only in primary care, but also in child specific specialties.

Additionally, the University of Vermont Cancer Center provides advanced cancer treatment to patients across our region and has a strong commitment to research and clinical trials.
