Job Description

External candidates with at least one year of RN experience, who have not worked within the network within the previous 12 months, are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $10,000 (prorated for part time roles). The bonus will be paid out as a $5,000.00 pay adjustment in the first pay check and the remaining $5,000.00 will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours/ prorated for part time) of satisfactory service.


We are excited to offer a new opportunity for nurses with pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery experience.  We recently created a unique position that combines the roles of a Pediatric Neurology nurse (60%) and a Pediatric Neurosurgery Nurse (40%). 

In this new, cross-departmental position, this nurse will have the ability to improve, recommend and establish new processes for both Healthcare Divisions. This role will provide advanced professional nursing care to patients in varying states of health and illness through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's health needs.

The Staff Nurse II primarily provides indirect (phone triage) care to patients and families, as well as teaching and preparation for continuing care. There are opportunities in this role for direct patient care as well, for instance, supporting Multi-disciplinary clinics, supporting clinic through teaching, surgery consenting, etc.   Organizational Standards of Patient Care and Nursing Practice guide the delivery of nursing services by this individual. The position demonstrates dedication to professional growth and development and to the continuous improvement of patient care.


State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative.
