Job Description

  • The Research Supervisor or Research Nurse Supervisor for the Vermont Lung Center is a hands-on leader who plans, directs, coordinates and helps to provide clinical services for research subjects at University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC).  This individual ensures adequate numbers of competent staff to deliver operational and clinical support and other functions in the context of research protocols. She/he leads by example and coordinates a multidisciplinary approach to patient-oriented research with cost effective clinical research leading to improved health care as the ultimate goal. Leadership of the clinical research function extends across a large Health Care Service Division and the Vermont Lung Center. It includes direct supervision of research staff.  She/he demonstrates excellence in communication, problem-solving, team work and the ability to foster professional growth in others.
  • The Research Supervisor provides leadership, consultation and collaboration in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment encompassing health care, research and education. She/he collaborates with members of the UVMMC health care team to evaluate and improve patient care systems and processes for the care of research subjects in the clinical setting. This position is supported by extramural funding and is therefore dependent on the availability of extramural funding in addition to performance.   


Bachelor's degree for Research Supervisor; BSN for Nurse Supervisor.

Individuals with other clinical designations will be considered as well at the Practice Supervisor level.


Ideal candidate will have some leadership experience.  Experience in a research environment strongly preferred.
