Job Description

The Network Director of Strategic and Business Planning provides critical leadership in evaluating and prioritizing key strategic projects throughout the UVM Health Network, in alignment with the Network’s strategic plan and vision and with its long term capital plan.  Supports the Network VP, Strategic and Business Planning, in the development of a comprehensive network level strategy.  Oversees the portfolio of business plans to meet the needs of the organization.  Works in close collaboration with Medical Group strategy/integration leaders to ensure the Network’s needs for market analyses, and business and service line planning are fully achieved.  Performs complex market analyses related to population health and community needs as well as demand projections.  Provides leadership and direction to Planning Consultants and other team members.  Works closely with a wide variety of departments within the network including Finance, Legal, Government Relations, Communications and Engagement Strategies, Information Technology and Data Management Office, and Quality leadership teams at the UVM Health Network Medical Group, and all network affiliates on integrated business and service line planning.  Ensures business planning compliance, including compliance with Vermont and New York state CON regulations, across the organization.  Updates business policies as needed to align with network operational goals.  Supports the development of CON submissions for major initiatives.  The incumbent achieves results which value the whole over the parts, while recognizing unique community needs and ensuring the future success of the academic mission and the network’s vision: “Together, we improve people’s lives.”


Master’s Degree (MBA, MHA, MPH or related fields).


Demonstrated progressive responsibility in business planning, strategic planning, capital planning, master facility planning and data analysis services in a health care and/or human service organization.  Experience with complex projection analyses desired.  Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in health care planning.
