Job Description
Please note this individual may work remotely from a home office based in New England or New York with on-site visits quarterly or as needed.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Healthcare Contract Specialist – High Value Care (“HCS-HVC”) negotiates, analyzes, implements and manages high value care contracts with commercial insurance companies, Accountable Care Organizations and government managed care programs (collectively “payers”) for The University of Vermont Health Network (“UVMHN”). The HCS-HVC is integral to managing and fostering payer relationships for those payers aligned with the UVMHN high value care contracting strategy. HCS-HVC assists the Vice President & Manager of Managed Care Contracting supporting the department and internal and external stakeholders ensuring contract compliance, proper implementation and overall contract relationship management. This role is integral to successful execution of the UVMHN commitment to high value care.
The HCS-HVC must have a strong background in fostering relationships as successful value-based arrangements rely upon collaboration of a variety of parties (e.g. payers, providers, leadership, regulators and operations teams). Therefore, the HCS-HVC is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional and effective working relationships with the representatives of payers, as well as the appropriate internal stakeholders.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree required with major in business finance, business administration, healthcare administration or other related area preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Four to five years of experience in healthcare contracting in the complex environment of a large hospital or multi-hospital system with value-based arrangements preferred.
