The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at UVMHN – Elizabethtown Community Hospital serves as a member of the ECH senior leadership team. The incumbent has primary accountability for quality of medical services at ECH and works collaboratively with affiliate leaders across the UVMHN. They demonstrate the ability to effectively support and advance clinical and business objectives that align with ECH’s strategic priorities and mission. They are responsible for supporting and modeling a patient and family centered culture focused on advancing employee engagement, clinical quality, patient safety, service excellence and fiscal responsibility. This position is a 1.0 FTE, with 0.5 FTE for administrative time and 0.5 FTE clinical effort.
The incumbent works closely with the ECH Chief Nursing Officer to coordinate medical operations throughout the organization. They establish a collaborative relationship with the UVMHN NY Affiliate Regional Physician Leader (RPL) to achieve the strategic goals of the organization and our Network. The CMO serves as primary senior leader liaison for the ECH Medical Staff. They establish collaborative relationships with CMO’s from across the UVMHN and northern NY. The incumbent maintains collaborative relationships and serves as a liaison between ECH and internal/ external partners, including external regulatory agencies as it relates to physician clinical practice
The CMO collaborates with colleagues across ECH and the UVMHN to advance strategic clinical and service quality objectives. The CMO is accountable for assuring the effectiveness of the Medical Staff Office operations and develops processes to assure the adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws. They provide medical direction for ECH inpatient services and specialty clinics. They provide oversight for the medical directors of the ECH emergency departments and the ECH primary care practices.
