Job Description
As an Assistant Nurse Manager in Inpatient Psychiatry, you will have the opportunity to work in both of our mental health care units: a 16-bed locked unit that cares for both voluntary & involuntary individuals requiring acute mental health care and a unit designed primarily for voluntary individuals with lower acuity needs. Our RNs actively participate in treatment plans and treatment rounds. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that is composed of MHT/LNAs, RNs, Physicians, Social Workers, Students & Group Therapists. Our mental health nurses are offered continued education including Psychiatric and Nursing Grand Rounds, inservices and journal groups. We support our nurses with obtaining their Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing certifications. Our nurses also have the opportunity to advance through the Clinical Advancement and Recognition Program (CARP).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Functions as the primary support person to the Nurse Manager for the direction and coordination of nursing care for a specific patient care unit. The ANM collaborates with the nurse manager in assessment and planning for nursing care. She/he carries out the responsibilities of the nurse manager in her/his absence with guidance from the Administrative Director. The Assistant Nurse Manager participates in hiring and evaluation of staff. The Assistant Nurse Manager collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective operations of the nursing unit.
EDUCATION:
Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required. BSN required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of three years of appropriate nursing experience relevant to the clinical specialty of the unit.
