Environmental Services General Job Description
Environmental Services serves as the foundation of patient care for the Medical Center. Environmental Services maintains the physical appearance of the hospital, like cleaning the halls we walk in and the rooms our patients stay. In addition, their work is the first thing our patients see. Environmental Service workers are a valued part of the Medical Center community. Most Environmental Services jobs are cleaning in certain areas of the hospital, handling non-hazardous waste, and handling hard floor and carpet procedures.
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred for this job. New hires are expected to complete the Orientation Training Program within three months of their hire date. It is required that every employee can meet the physical demands of the job. It is desirable for our new hires to have experience in the health care industry, though not required.
Environmental Services Leader Job Description
As a leader in Environmental Services the responsibilities are to uphold the physical appearance and environment of the hospital while maintaining a strong presence around your staff. This is done by overseeing the duties of all Environmental Services employees in the assigned section of the hospital. In addition, the Environmental Services Leader will be required to coordinate all routine project assignments and activities for the EVS team. These duties include but are not limited to scheduling, trainings, evaluations, performance improvement plans, and meeting with Department Managers regularly.
A successful employee in this position will achieve cost, quality, and regulatory objectives while meeting the UVM Medical Center’s strategic and operational goals. We require all applicants to have an Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. We require a minimum of three years of supervisory experience required; experience in a Health Care environment preferred.
