Job Shadowing at the UVM Medical Center
Job shadowing is only available to individuals who have contacted a UVM Medical Center employee who has agreed to serve as their job shadowing mentor.
A job shadow at UVM Medical Center is a brief, unpaid, work-based educational experience for high school students, post-secondary students, or adults with a bona fide educational interest. This experience generally lasts no longer than 5 days (and can be as short as 2 hours).
Job shadowing introduces the individual to a particular job or career by pairing the student with an employee or clinical faculty member at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Students and/or other individuals will follow/shadow the employee as he/she performs normal work activities. The student may observe and ask questions but will not perform patient care or any other duties.
Areas available for observation opportunities will be at the discretion of the UVM Medical Center. Participants must be at least 14 years old (18 years old in the Operating Room areas).
If you would like to job shadow and have confirmed a current employee who is willing to be your job shadow mentor, please ask that employee to refer to the instructions and process on the employee intranet.
Your mentor will then provide you with a link to an online job shadowing orientation and placement confirmation form.
