If you or a loved one has suffered an orthopedic trauma, like a broken bone, or torn muscle, you need specialized care at a fully equipped treatment center. At The University of Vermont Medical Center, our board-certified orthopedists use advanced technology to diagnose and care for you. Everything you need is on site, decreasing wait time.

Orthopedic Trauma Care at the UVM Medical Center

One of our skilled physicians will perform a comprehensive evaluation. Once the evaluation is completed, your doctor will discuss treatment alternatives with you. Services we provide include:

  • On-site radiology exam (X-rays)
  • Casting or splinting
  • Surgery
  • Aspiration/Injection
  • Pain management
  • Therapy services
  • Coordination of care with other disciplines

Meet our Team

Our staff includes board-certified orthopedists with specialty training in evaluation and management of musculoskeletal trauma. Our orthopedic surgeons are faculty members at the University of Burlington, Vermont of College of Medicine and are involved in research and in the education of medical students and orthopedic surgery residents.

In addition, your medical team includes:

  • A physical therapist (on-site) to coordinate rehabilitation care and to instruct you regarding home exercise programs
  • Nurses and support staff to help coordinate your care

Trauma Surgeons at the UVM Medical Center: Make an Appointment

You can arrange a follow-up visit with one of our trauma surgeons through the emergency department.

Alternatively, your family physician or specialist can make a referral.
You may also call us directly to arrange an appointment.

When you come for your appointment, please bring records of previous treatments and any pertinent diagnostic studies, such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, bone scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.

This will assist the physician in developing a comprehensive plan of care for you.

Physical Therapy at the UVM Medical Center

Part of your treatment plan may include physical therapy services, on-site or elsewhere. Please note that financial coverage for evaluation and treatment are subject to the conditions of your particular insurance policy.
