Urgent Care at the UVM Medical Center

The University of Vermont Medical Center Urgent Care, located at the Fanny Allen Campus in Colchester, offers the unparalleled care and personalized attention you'll find at a university hospital without the need for an appointment.

Unlike standalone urgent care centers and walk-in clinics, you don't have to travel if you require a more comprehensive evaluation, diagnostic tests, or need a specialist after you're seen by one of our doctors. Our urgent care center has 13 exam rooms and diagnostic imaging, intravenous (IV) capabilities, and an outpatient retail pharmacy.

Dial 911 for Symptoms That Seem Life-Threatening

If you're experiencing chest pain, symptoms of stroke, severe abdominal pain, or other serious symptoms that seem life-threatening, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately.

The University of Vermont Medical Center Urgent Care at the Fanny Allen Campus in Colchester, VT, is a short drive from Burlington, South Burlington, Winooski, and Essex. We are located across the street from St. Michael's College.

For more information, call: 802-847-0000 or 800-358-1144.

We provide non-emergency treatment for conditions such as:

  • Colds, earaches, sore throats, and bronchitis
  • Sprains, strains and simple bone fractures
  • Minor cuts, lacerations, splinters and minor skin abscesses
  • Conjunctivitis and superficial eye injuries
  • Urinary tract infections (consider the ED if under 4 years old)
  • Headaches, nausea, vomiting and stomach flu
  • Rashes, minor burns and minor allergic reactions
  • Camp, sports and pre-operative physicals

Patients with chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe abdominal pain or SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) needs should go to the Emergency Department.

Patients who may need a CT-scan, ultrasound, or extensive blood work should contact their provider’s office or, if an urgent need, go to the Emergency Department.

Laboratory

There is no lab service on site, with the exception of point of care testing (urine dipstick, rapid strep and urine pregnancy testing). All other labs are sent to the UVM Medical Center Main Campus for processing and may require over an hour for lab results.

X-Ray

X-ray services are available seven days per week from 8 am – 8 pm. They are not available on holidays.

Advanced imaging services, such as ultrasound or CT scan, are no longer available at Urgent Care. Patients who require advanced imaging should speak with their provider’s office for assistance with scheduling these services.

Questions? Call 802-847-1170 to speak with the team leader or a triage nurse prior to visiting Urgent Care.
