Pediatricians Focused on Family

Our pediatricians are committed to providing family-centered care. You know your child best and we encourage you to take a lead role on our team in shaping your child's care.

We pride ourselves in being a long-standing fixture in the community and cherish the hundreds of long-term relationships we have fostered with patients and families throughout the years.

As part of UVM Medical Center, our pediatricians are backed by the many teams of specialists found only at a university medical center. Our high-quality care is informed by research-based expertise and new scientific breakthroughs-giving young patients access to the most advanced pediatric primary care treatments.

We offer the full range of pediatric primary care services, allowing us to foster long-term relationships with patients and their families. Our team consists of board-certified pediatricians and two pediatric nurse practitioners who are certified by the American Nurse Association.

Illness Visits

If your child appears ill or you have a question or concern about your child, please call us. We can give advice and figure out the right visit if needed. We have same-day appointments as well as evening and weekend hours for children who need to be seen.

When you first come to the office, a nurse or medical assistant will spend time with you and your child, asking questions and performing some procedures such as temperature taking.

The pediatrician or pediatric resident will then examine your child. On some occasions, your child will be examined first by a medical student, then by a pediatrician. If you are uncomfortable with this arrangement, or if you have any questions about the diagnosis or treatment, please let us know.

Well-Child Check-Ups

We believe that the best way to keep your child healthy is through regular well-child check-ups. It is during these office visits that we evaluate your child's growth and development, check hearing, vision and speech, promote good safety habits and injury prevention, discuss anticipated changes in your child's development and behavior, evaluate school readiness, prevent illness with immunizations, and explore questions or concerns you may have had about your child's health, growth, development or behavior.

Regular visits should occur at the following stages as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics:

  • 2 weeks
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 18 months
  • 2 years
  • 30 month visit (2.5 years)
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • 6 years
  • 7 years
  • 8 years
  • 9 years
  • 10 years
  • Every year after that

Some children will need to be seen more or less frequently than these recommendations. If you feel that your child needs a schedule that differs from the one above, please discuss this with us.

Adolescent Care in Burlington, VT

At our Adolescent Care Center, we provide services for a full range of health issues facing young adults. Adolescents are often seen for visits without their parents in an effort to build a sense of trust between the pediatrician and the teenager.

Confidentiality between the adolescent patient and the caregiver will be kept unless the patient requests otherwise. Often, there are conflicts between parents and their teenagers; if you have any concerns about your child during this period of development, please discuss them with us.

FLU SHOTS NOW AVAILABLE

Now more than ever, your flu shot matters. Please call your Primary Care provider to schedule your flu vaccination appointment.
