The Seneca Center at The UVM Medical Center

The University of Vermont Medical Center offers outpatient psychiatry through the Seneca Center. The Center's program provides comprehensive treatment at several levels of intensity, ranging from office-based evaluation and treatment to intensive outpatient services to partial hospitalization services.

The programs are offered to adults who are experiencing new symptoms, worsening symptoms, or a decrease in functioning.

Treatment at the Seneca Center is grounded in empirically based interventions and utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), skills training, and pharmacological management.

Partial Hospitalization

The UVM Medical Center's Partial Hospitalization Program, part of the Seneca Center, is for individuals who are transitioning from inpatient care back into the community or for individuals who are experiencing worsening symptoms and want to avoid an inpatient admission.

The primary purpose of this program is to stabilize crisis, stabilize functioning, and restore symptoms to a pre-crisis level.
