Genetic Testing and Counseling at the UVM Medical Center

There are lots of factors that can cause cancer including:

  • Genetics
  • Environmental
  • Medical
  • Lifestyle factors

Through the Familial Cancer Program our team of genetic counselors and oncologists review medical and family history information to assess one's risk. Sometimes DNA-based testing is required to fully determine whether family members are at risk of inheriting the disease. Our counselors provide recommendations on screening and prevention for the whole family, not just the individual.

Our team at The UVM Cancer Center has been helping individuals and families determine their cancer risk for over 15 years. From prevention, screening and treatment, we offer compassionate and supportive care informed by the latest medical advances. Our highly skilled team of professionals can provide the information you need to plan for the future.
