Child Life Students & Volunteers
Please note: We are not currently accepting internship applicants.
We offer a Child Life Practicum Program which is designed to introduce students to the Child Life profession in general. The practicum program includes completion of a minimum of 100 supervised hours for 1 semester. Through observation and interaction, the practicum student will gain a working knowledge of infant, child, and adolescent growth and development and a better understanding of how children are impacted by hospitalization. The student will be registered as a Child Life volunteer. Opportunities will evolve for observing the Child Life Specialist applying theory to practice. This is a non-paid practicum that prepares the student for a child life internship. Currently UVM Children’s Hospital is only accepting one Child Life Practicum student each semester.
- The student must have completed basic coursework in child development in order to benefit from this placement.
- We require 30 hours of volunteer experience with children in a hospital/clinical setting to be completed prior to applying (must have verification of hours).
- Completed Application
- Current Professional Resume
- Unofficial transcripts of completed coursework in child development
- Verified completion of 30 hours volunteering with children in hospital/clinical setting
