What is hip pain?

Hip pain is a common problem, and it can be confusing because there are many causes. It is important to make an accurate diagnosis of the cause of your symptoms so that appropriate treatment can be directed at the underlying problem. Some hip pain conditions are:

  • Arthritis
    • Degenerative joint disease of hip
  • Avascular necrosis of femoral head/hip
  • Bone cancer
  • Bone contusion
  • Bone infection (osteomyelitis)
  • Bursitis
  • Cartilage injury
  • Chondrocalcinosis
  • Degenerative joint disease of hip
  • Developmental dysplasia of hip
  • Fracture: acetabulum, femoral head, femoral neck, hip, pelvis
