One of the core goals of this program is the training of excellence in psychopharmacology with full awareness of both the potential benefits and risks of psychopharmacologic treatment used as an important component of an overall comprehensive treatment plan. Significant clinical and didactic time is devoted to this endeavor.
As part of the Family Based Approach, child psychiatry evaluations at this clinic also involve screening for psychopathology in parents and caretakers. Treating psychiatric illness in family members often has significant benefit in the symptoms of the identified patient.
