Core monthly rotations 

  • Introduction to Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacokinetics 
  • Ambulatory Care (Residents will choose 1)  
    • Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Infusion Clinic, Primary Care (outpatient family medicine), Pulmonary, and Transitions of Care 
  • Medicine
  • Critical Care (Residents will choose 1)  
    • Medical or Surgical ICU 
  • Pharmacy Administration 
  • Infectious Diseases 
  • Oncology (Residents will choose 1)  
    • Inpatient or Outpatient 

Elective monthly rotations (Residents will choose 3)

  • Ambulatory Care (see core options) 
  • Cardiology
  • Emergency Medicine  
  • Investigational Drug Service
  • Nephrology/Medicine  
  • Oncology 
  • Pediatrics  
  • Transitions of Care 

Required longitudinal rotations  

  • Medication Safety  
  • Drug Information 
  • Research Project 
    • The resident will work with the residency program research coordinator and other members of the pharmacy department and hospital as required and learn the fundamentals of research design and methodology.  
    • The resident is expected to present the project at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Eastern States Residency Conference. 
  • Pharmacy practice (clinical staffing coverage) 
    • Residents will provide clinical staffing coverage every third weekend, including the Friday prior to the weekend worked. Residents will rotate through the Medical/Surgical and Cardiology satellites, as well as the central pharmacy. 

Elective longitudinal rotations  

  • Emergency medical response 

Other Required Projects/Experiences 

  • Residents will also complete the following projects or experiences throughout the residency year: 
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification  
    • Medication utilization evaluation  
    • Medication monograph review for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee 
    • Pharmacy Grand Rounds presentation 

Teaching and Learning Program 

Pharmacy Residents will be provided with an elective opportunity to participate in a Teaching and Learning Certificate Program.
