Pediatric Developmental Evaluation Program

Burlington, VT 05401

At the University of Vermont Children's Hospital, our developmental evaluation teams specialize in the diagnosis of children with developmental disabilities, including developmental delay, intellectual disability, and autism spectrum disorder.

Pediatric Developmental Evaluation Program

Our team of pediatric specialists offers comprehensive evaluations for developmental disabilities in children. We specialize in making an initial diagnosis and recommendations, and then help families coordinate care with community providers.

Evaluation Process

During the intake process, our team of specialists looks at multiple factors to determine the needs of the patient. We then recommend the best diagnostic team to meet your child's specific needs. We work in collaboration with three specialty clinics to which your child could be referred:

  • UVM Medical Center Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics: This clinic is located at 1 South Prospect Street in Burlington and serves children 0 to 8 years old. There is an option for eHealth, which means some appointments could be conducted by video, depending on your needs.
  • Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families (VCCYF) Autism Assessment Clinic: This clinic, housed within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is located at 1 South Prospect Street in Burlington, and serves children and adolescents 0 to 18 years old.
  • Vermont Department of Health Child Development Clinic: This clinic is located in Barre and Rutland and serves children 0 to 8 years old. Learn more about the Child Development Clinic.

All of our specialty clinics offer a team approach, by coordinating your child's care and working collaboratively with different providers – such as social workers, speech/language pathologists, psychologists and other professionals – to meet your child's specific needs. Throughout the process, we collaborate with you and your treatment team to ensure the best possible care.
